CSU Bakersfield President Lynnette Zelezny called Chevron a loyal, steadfast partner whose generosity and support of the university extends over the decades.
“It is difficult to imagine what CSUB would look like today without Chevron’s partnership,” President Zelezny said. “With Chevron’s help, our School of Natural Sciences, Engineering and Mathematics is experiencing record growth, and that means that our region at long last will produce more of the engineers, scientists, mathematicians and technology professionals that it so desperately needs. Thank you, Chevron, for your understanding that in order to have an educated work force in our region, we must build partnerships and grow our own leaders of tomorrow.”
Chevron’s longstanding support has helped CSUB’s engineering programs to achieve the rare industry seal of excellence from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc., or ABET. The 2018 accreditation has elevated the engineering program to an elite level, attracting students from our region and beyond.
“Our engineering programs have made it possible for local families to send their students to CSUB, which means we are keeping the best and brightest minds here instead of exporting them to other universities,” said Kathleen Madden, Dean of the School of Natural Sciences, Engineering and Mathematics.
“We know that graduates who are from our area are more likely to remain here and make a commitment to moving our region forward. Chevron has been a passionate ally to CSUB in creating opportunities for STEM students right here in Kern County.”
