California State University, Bakersfield is one of 14 universities that will be participating in a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Virtual Career Fair on Thursday.
The Virtual Career Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. PST via Handshake and will provide attendees with the opportunity to connect with employers through workshops as well as one-on-one and group sessions. Registration is now open here. Space is limited and on a first-come-first-served basis.
The career fair is seeking to match students and alumni from participating HSIs with over 150 companies from around the country. Participating companies include Amazon, Toyota, Meta, Southwest Airlines, Walmart and WarnerMedia. Employers are hiring for full-time, part-time and internships.
Students are advised to upload their résumé on Handshake to share with potential employers. Professional attire is required to attend this event.
CSUB is among 14 HSIs that have partnered to form the HSI Career Collaborative Consortium, including five CSUs.
The collaborative’s mission is to promote social mobility and economic prosperity in underserved communities by recruiting, retaining and graduating students while creating career growth opportunities for students and alumni.
A university is federally designated as an HSI if Hispanic students make up more than 25% of full-time equivalent undergraduates. Currently, over 60% of undergraduates at CSUB identify as Hispanic or Latinx.
