Tirelessly, he has addressed thousands of gatherings around the world, speaking to wide-ranging leaders from Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak to author Elizabeth Gilbert to civil rights legend John Lewis. The event is free and open to the public, thanks to the sponsorship of the Ravi and Naina Patel Foundation, the Kegley Family, Kaiser Permanente and Adventist Health Bakersfield, Kern Schools Federal Credit Union, Valley Public Radio, CSUB Office of the Provost, and CSUB University Advancement.
Local year-long celebrations honoring Mahatma Gandhi's 150 birthday leading up to the Gandhi/Mehta KIE Lecture were coordinated by the the Gandhi Celebration Committee for Truth, Justice and Non-Violence, the Naina and Ravi Patel Foundation and community partners. These events included; the International “Jai Jagat Show” held at Bakersfield College featuring underprivileged children from the Gandhi Ashram of India; the “Festival for Peace and Non-Violence March” held at CSUB; the “Satyagraha: Truth is the Goal, Nonviolence is the Way” essay contest open to all Kern County high school seniors and all College students; the free showing of the eight academy award winning 1982 “Gandhi” movie at the Fox Theater, and many other celebrations.
