The Roadrunner community is uniting once again this April to make a lasting impact on students by helping them reach their full potential.
California State University, Bakersfield is gearing up to hold its annual digital fundraising marathon, Raising for `Runners Giving Day, from noon on April 8 to noon on April 9. Campus and community members will have 24 hours to show their support by donating to the areas and programs they are most passionate about.
“Being mindful of our state’s financial situation, the importance of supporting our CSUB students and programs must remain a priority,” said Director of Annual Giving and Stewardship Eric Weis. “As a community, we must stand up for one another and help each other out. As Kern County’s University, we want our students and future students to know that we are going to be there for them. CSUB’s Raising for `Runners Giving Day is a commitment that we will continue to uphold in honor of our past, current and future students.”
The campaign will include several challenges that unlock gifts for reaching certain donor participation milestones, including the President’s Challenge, Faculty and Staff Initiative Challenge and the Alumni Engagement Challenge.
New challenges this year include `Runner Throwback, a senior class gift challenge and a Friends of the Walter W. Stiern Library challenge.
You can also support CSUB by eating at the Stockdale Highway locations of California Pizza Kitchen, Chipotle and Raising Cane’s on April 8 or 9. If you mention that you are there to support the university for Giving Day, the eateries will donate up to 25% of your meal purchase back to CSUB. This also applies to online and takeout orders.
“I invite our Kern County community to support causes that they are passionate about on our upcoming Giving Day,” Weis said. “Let’s Rowdy up and support CSUB in a big way this year. Philanthropic investments to our university are extremely important in these times. Thank you for your belief in our university!”
Donations from Raising for `Runners Giving Day will help CSUB reach the finish line of its first-ever comprehensive fundraising campaign, which was publicly announced in October 2021 and aims to raise $50 million by June 30.
Last year’s Giving Day brought in $175,000 from more than 1,000 gifts, a new record. A total of 891 donors contributed, shattering the university’s previous record of 535 donors in 2021.
