The School of Business and Public Administration is welcoming two new faculty members for the 2022-23 academic year. Read more about the new faculty below.
Dr. Choi earned her Ph.D. in accounting from Bentley University in Massachusetts. Her research addresses issues concerning audit quality and financial reporting quality in the capital market.
Current projects include assessment of audit-firm governance, investment in quality control in public accounting, effect of engagement quality review timing in public accounting, as well as implications of timeliness in discovery of financial statement misstatement.
Dr. Choi was invited as an audit quality panelist at the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board Conference on Auditing and Capital Markets and has presented her research projects at multiple meetings of the American Accounting Association. Her teaching interests lie primarily in the areas of financial accounting and accounting data analytics.
Dr. Choi is excited to be a CSUB faculty member.
“CSUB is a truly unique place in Bakersfield,” she said. “Students are from all ages and diverse backgrounds, but they are all enthusiastic students in the classroom. Also, it is great to meet students on campus and engage in learning activities together!”
Before joining the faculty at CSUB, Dr. Pak served as an associate professor in the Management and Marketing Department at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. He completed his Ph.D. in human resources/industrial relations from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.
Much of Dr. Pak’s research applies advanced psychometrics, such as multilevel structural equation modeling, latent profile analysis and meta-analysis. His research interests include work and family demand and resources, employee motivation and well-being. More specifically, he focuses on the role of family-friendly HR policies on individual, team and family outcomes.
Dr. Pak looks forward to a successful academic year at CSUB.
“Being part of CSUB makes me feel proud,” he said. “I felt that CSUB treats faculty members as critical resources to energize, inspire and develop the potential of every student and the Kern County community. I would love to be an active part of CSUB, where the various facets of faculty work are valued and encouraged.”
