The School of Social Sciences and Education (SSE) Dean at California State University, Bakersfield, Dr. James L. Rodriguez was appointed to the Governing Board of the Kern County Network for Children (KCNC).
“I am thrilled and honored to have been appointed to the Governing Board of the Kern County Network for Children (KCNC) and delighted to serve as a representative of CSUB on the board,” said SSE Dean, Dr. James L. Rodriguez. “It will be a privilege to serve the children, families, and communities of Kern County and beyond through service on the KCNC board.”
KCNC is a partnership of local government, schools, businesses and communities working together on behalf of children.
The KCNC was originally created in 1992 by resolution of the Kern County Board of Supervisors in response to a growing recognition of the need for collaborative, interagency service delivery and the power of community action in meeting critical needs of Kern County's children and families.
Direction for the KCNC is provided by a 24-member Governing Board comprised of leaders from government, schools, nonprofit agencies, and private business and community members, all of whom care passionately about the conditions of children in our communities.
As dean for the School of SSE, Dr. Rodriguez said he sees existing, and envisions new, possible synergies between the mission and work of KCNC, SSE and the university.
“I look forward to working with fellow board members, with CSUB colleagues, and with partners in the region to advance the mission and work of KCNC,” added Dean Rodriguez.
