CSUB was recently ranked as No. 24 in Top Public Schools and No. 31 in Top Performers on Social Mobility by U.S News and World Report 2021 Best Colleges report.
Schools were ranked according to their performance across a set of factors that indicate academic excellence. Over 1,450 universities across the nation were ranked.
Top Public Schools consist of public colleges and universities that operate under the supervision of state governments and are funded, in part, by tax dollars and subsidies from the state. Public schools run the gamut from small liberal arts colleges to large research institutions. CSUB was also ranked as a Top Public School last year.
Top Performers in Social Mobility are measured by how well schools graduated students who received federal Pell Grants. A majority of the Pell Grants are awarded to those whose family incomes are under $50,000, but most go towards those with a total family income below $20,000. At CSUB, over 70% of students are Pell Grant eligible.
CSUB was also ranked by U.S. News and World Report as No. 52 among Regional Universities in the West and among the top 100 in Undergraduate Engineering Programs.
