Dear CSUB alumni,
We hope this email finds you, your family, your neighbors and your colleagues well.
Anyone who has spent time on our campus knows we `Runners are a family and as family, we wanted to share some news, uplifting stories of how members of the CSUB community are helping one another, and ways you can help as we navigate this coronavirus crisis together.
Faculty are teaching virtually, and most staff are working from home, with the exception of some personnel. We are still providing housing, food, health and other services to students living on campus and unable to go home. You can learn more and stay up to date on COVID-related campus news on our university website.
You’ll be encouraged to know your fellow `Runners and CSUB friends are coming to the aid of each other. Alumni in Washington, D.C., grappling with the extra stress of being so far from home are connecting in creative ways. CSUB faculty and staff are sharing messages of support and encouragement with students. A local attorney who helps CSUB French students travel to France every year is still contributing to our language program despite the trip being canceled and forgiving rent due from his tenants in April.
There are ways you can help, too:
- Send positive stories of alumni helping their community to cbedell1@csub.edu. We’d love to share them.
- If you’re a mentor in our `Runner Alumni Mentor Program, make an encouraging call to your mentee. And if you’re not a mentor, you can sign up to be a mentor next academic year.
-
Make a gift online in support of a current program that supports students. One great option is the CSUB Fund, which is the university’s unrestricted fund and allows for the rapid response to the most pressing needs of our students, faculty, staff and campus. Gifts received last week have already been deployed to address immediate technology needs. Hundreds of students and faculty have been loaned Wi-Fi hotspots and Google Chromebooks, which provide access to an outstanding CSUB education.
- If you would like to speak to someone at the CSUB Foundation about giving opportunities, call (661) 654-2136.
- Stay connected with us on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and/or Instagram (see links below). That’s the best way to keep up with opportunities to support or be supported by `Runners.
