California State University, Bakersfield was recently ranked among the most affordable four-year colleges in the nation by Best Value Schools.
CSUB was ranked No. 21 in Best Value Schools’ ranking of the 25 most affordable four-year colleges in 2021. CSUB was one of only two California institutions that made the list, the other being CSU Los Angeles.
Schools were ranked based on tuition cost per credit hour and graduation rate. The score was weighed with the tuition rate making up two-thirds of the score rate. Colleges were then ranked from highest to lowest weighed score.
Colleges and universities had to meet several criteria to be considered for inclusion on the list, including offering four-year programs, having a student body of at least 1,000 undergraduates, a tuition cost under $300 per credit hour and at least a 25% graduation rate.
Online-only, technical and specialty colleges were excluded from the rankings.
The ranking by Best Value Schools is just one of several CSUB has received this year. The university has been ranked for affordability by the following publications:

· No. 25 Best Bang for the Buck by Washington Monthly
