California State University, Bakersfield students can get into the Halloween spirit with several events being held on campus held this month.
The festivities will kick off on Thursday with the premiere of the Music and Theatre Department's production of "Little Shop of Horrors," which will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Dorè Theatre. The show will take place at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 20-22 and Oct. 28-29 as well as at 2 p.m. on Oct. 30.
“Featuring a blood-thirsty monster of a plant, ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ is perfect for the Halloween season!” said Theatre Program Coordinator Mandy Rees. “We’ve got a talented cast, great music, and a gruesomely comic plot that are sure to entertain. It’s been a delight working with the students bringing this popular musical to the stage.”
Tickets are $15 for general admission, $10 for seniors and CSUB faculty and staff, and $7 for students. Click here to purchase tickets.
The Student Recreation Center will also offer several spooky events as part of Scary Rec Week Oct. 24-31, including a Night at the SRC on Oct. 27 and a Zombie Apocalypse Scavenger Hunt on Halloween day. As part of that event, students will visit different areas of campus to collect essentials for their own emergency preparedness kit. University Police Department officers will be dressed up as zombies.
“Scary Rec Week is always such a great event for our students. It allows our students the opportunity to join our programs and offerings while also getting creative and socializing with other students during the spooky season,” said Lea Molina, communications, special programs and student development coordinator for the SRC. “Our events also provide a safe, fun environment for our students and Scary Rec Week is a student favorite for sure! I hope students will feel the spirit of the season when attending our events, while also staying active and engaged with what the SRC has to offer!”
