Money magazine has ranked California State University, Bakersfield as one of the best colleges in the nation.
Money rated CSUB 4.5 out of 5 stars in its 2024 Best Colleges in America rankings. More than 700 institutions were evaluated in the categories of quality, affordability and student outcomes. The magazine weighed cost, graduation rates, financial aid availability and alumni earnings in determining the ranking.
“All 23 campuses in the California State University system received Money Magazine’s star rating for affordability, access and success of our graduates, which makes the CSU the gold standard for higher education," said Interim President Vernon B. Harper Jr. "What that means for Kern County families is that they have the precious opportunity to attend one of the premier universities in the nation without ever leaving home. We want every resident of our region to know that there is a spot waiting for them here at Kern County’s university, where new beginnings are written every day.”
The magazine switched from a number system to a rating system for its Best Colleges rankings last year to better help families with their college search by highlighting the variety and diversity of the ranked institutions.
