The entire California State University community has an opportunity on Friday, Dec. 18, to hear directly from Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, who has been at the forefront of the nation’s battle with coronavirus.
National health expert Dr. Fauci will share his perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing the country’s largest four-year university. The CSU is recognized as a national leader as the first university system to announce a move to primarily virtual instruction for the 2020-21 academic year, prioritizing the health and safety of its faculty, staff, students and campus communities during the pandemic.
CSU Chancellor Timothy P. White will host a conversation with Dr. Fauci. The virtual event also will include a Q&A session between Dr. Fauci and the CSU campus presidents.
"As case numbers and deaths spike throughout California and the hard-hit Central Valley, this access to Dr. Fauci comes at a key moment in the course of the pandemic, especially as we look ahead to a return to campus for the fall 2021 semester," said Dr. Lynnette Zelezny, president of California State University, Bakersfield.
The virtual event will be held on Friday, Dec. 18 from Noon to 12:45 p.m. at www.calstate.edu.
