Tax season is once again upon us. Community members, students, staff and faculty can get free income tax services at California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB). The services are offered through the School of Business and Public Administration (BPA) in the Business Development Center Room A 218 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., every Saturday starting Saturday, Feb. 1 and ending on March 28.
These services are offered to all with W-2 income by appointment only, and can be scheduled by calling (661) 654-3098. Accounting student volunteers, who are fully trained and have passed certification tests by the IRS, will be assisting.
“I am very proud of our students’ excellent and dedicated services. We provide free tax preparation services not only to low-income families, but also students, staff and faculty,” said Dr. Benjamin Bae, director and site coordinator of the CSUB Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. “Without this free service, many low-income families would not have their taxes done due to the upfront expense of hiring an accountant.”
For additional information, please contact Dr. Benjamin Bae at (661) 654-2140 or bbae@csub.edu.
