The Kegley Institute of Ethics (KIE) at California State University, Bakersfield is now accepting nominations for the 2025 Wendy Wayne Ethics Awards.
The awards recognize two individuals, one youth and one adult, who have given back to their community through their actions and by demonstrating ethical leadership. The youth awardee will receive a $5,000 scholarship.
Nominations are being accepted through Dec. 16. Applications can be submitted online through the KIE website.
The awards honor CSUB alumna and beloved Bakersfield community member Wendy Wayne, who was a dedicated volunteer and ethical leader in the Bakersfield community. She served as a Peace Corps volunteer, a nurse at Kern Medical Center and as an advocate for child education with the Kern County Superintendent of Schools.
“The Kegley Institute of Ethics is honored to be organizing the Wendy Wayne Ethics Awards again in 2025,” said KIE Interim Director Dr. Nate Olson. “Kern County is full of people who do good for others and our community, just as Wendy Wayne did throughout her lifetime. Through the Wendy Wayne Ethics Awards, we honor Wendy's legacy by celebrating and recognizing those individuals.”
A celebration dinner for the 2025 awardees will be held on March 15 in conjunction with the Wendy Wayne Day of Service. The Kegley Institute will once again work with the Community Action Partnership of Kern to address food insecurity in the community.
