California State University, Bakersfield’s education graduate programs have been nationally recognized for the value they provide to students.
Money magazine, in partnership with College Factual, has rated CSUB’s education master’s programs five stars in the Best Education Master’s Programs for Your Money category as part of its Best Graduate Schools in America rankings.
CSUB was one of 32 universities from across the nation to be ranked in the education programs category. Other CSUs to receive five stars include Fresno, Los Angeles, Dominguez Hills and Monterey Bay.
Universities were rated based on factors including annual costs, average student debt, employment rate and average early career salaries. Data was collected from several sources, including the U.S. Department of Education’s College Scorecard and the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System.

"Our graduate student `Runners are doing amazing work across the disciplines and throughout our region. CSUB continues to foster and build dynamic and relevant programs in graduate education. Being Kern County’s university (and Antelope Valley’s!) means offering master's and doctoral programs needed by the economies and communities we serve."
CSUB offers master's programs in the areas of educational administration, counseling, special education as well as curriculum and instruction.
“Our master’s degrees...offer transformational life value to our students with their low-tuition cost, flexibility in completion of course work, caring professors and pathways to high-paying jobs and additional graduate work in our doctoral education degree,” said Dr. Luis Vega, interim dean for CSUB’s College of Social Sciences and Education.
Money also rated CSUB 4.5 out of 5 stars in its 2024 Best Colleges in America rankings. More than 700 institutions were evaluated based on 26 factors involving quality, affordability and student outcomes.
